Even though the TGMHF was founded in 1985, and was temporarily located in Granbury from 1996-1998, and in Mesquite from 2010-2012, the collection of valuable artifacts has been growing for over seven decades. The primary historical elements and collectable items of the Texas Gospel Music Museum center around these 5 areas:

Traditional shaped note song books (Stamps-Baxter) and sheet music

Over 4,000 – 78 rpm, 45’s, and 33 1/3 long play record albums
Microphones
Classic collection of over 25 microphones from the early days of gospel concerts
Photographs
Over 1,000 classic “8×10 glossies” of gospel singing groups – mostly from Texas
Memorabilia
Record players, tape machines, posters, educational materials, quartet souvenirs
